Our Gospel today is the Annunciation. We are familiar with the Annunciation for it is the first decade, or part of the Joyful Mysteries. We pray the rosary right?

Jesus gave his mother to us on the cross to be our mother and she always points to her son. So we ask her to speak to her son for us. As the saying goes, who better to get someone’s attention and hear our petition than to ask their mother to tell them.

So as Catholics we ask Mary to help us. If you have not developed a daily prayer life that includes talking to Mary, you don’t really understand what is missing in your faith and relationship to Jesus.

Jesus gave us many things to help us. He gives us the Holy Spirit to reside in our hearts and guide us. We are all given individual guardian angels that are standing beside you and me right now encouraging us and petitioning for us.  We are given the Eucharist to reconnect and join in real flesh and blood with Jesus. Why would we not receive this daily? We are given confession to sooth our hearts and remove our sins so we can once again turn to our Father, ready to receive his forgiveness. Many of us have been given the sacrament of marriage where we join with another person like no other relationship between people can ever be. Truly, two people but one united. We are given the sacrament of ordination and priests to shepherd us on earth and deacons to help them.

So many gifts but Mary, our mother is an important part of the successful believer. For a mother in heaven who is close to Jesus is unbeatable for anyone who wants to really develop a deeper relationship with God. The daily rosary brings the prayer closer and deeper. A request to help to Mary is like a same day shipment, fast and immediate and can be shocking how quickly she can talk to her son for us and we hear or understand his answer.

Mary, born without sin. Mary, ever virgin. Mary, assumed and crowned Queen of Heaven is more than just an optional devotion. She is an intricate part of Jesus plan for our salvation. The child of God who strives to be close to Jesus Christ would reach him a thousand times easier and develop a deeper understanding by asking his mother to help reach out to Jesus Christ. Today ask Mary to speak to Jesus on your behalf. Include your petitions and struggles as you ask our mom in heaven to reach out for us.

Mary loves all of us as children and will always take our prayers to him
