Today and all this week we have been asked to open our hearts to God. And we should do so not for his benefit but for our own. He has already opened his heart to us. He has sent his Son Jesus Christ to show us his open heart for us. Should we not reciprocate and open our heart to not only wait for him but seek him, pursue him. A Christian heart that is open seeks the one who loves us first before we were born.
We are also reminded that one who calls himself Christian seeks the best for others too. Our life should be based on our love for God and our love for others. It should be our nature to be open to God and seek the best for those around us.
Gospel
Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue.
They were astonished and said,
“Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds?
Is he not the carpenter’s son?
Is not his mother named Mary
and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?
Are not his sisters all with us?
Where did this man get all this?”
And they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them,
“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place
and in his own house.”
And he did not work many mighty deeds there
because of their lack of faith.
