When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi
he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Who do we say Jesus is?
Who is he in our life?
Who is he to me?
Maybe we should ask who do those around me say Jesus is to me?
For our Lord is a God of action and not just words alone. And you and I are actively living according to who Jesus is for us.
Is he the Son of the Living God? Do we live and love like he did? Do others see it? Are we known as one whose eyes are on Jesus Christ at all times?
Do we live in his peace? Today and everyday we must ask how are we living? Whose are we? Do our actions and words reflect who we believe we belong to?
Jesus told us he will give us his peace. A true peace. Not like the world give doesn’t give us his peace.
A sign of one who sees Jesus as the Son of God is he lives in his peace.
How are we doing today? Whose peace governs our words and actions?
