Matthew 5:17-19

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,
until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”

Our scriptures from the old to New Testament, from the garden of Eden to the garden of Gethsemane … it is one story, our story. It is the story of our God and his relationship with us. It is a story of God seeking his created and man seeking his creator. And in the middle of this story Jesus comes to be with us and walk beside us. To show us the way. Our Father did not want to leave it to chance. So he sent his son to retrieve us. He sent the prophets to prepare us. He sends guardian angels to watch over us and Mary our Mother in heaven to do what she does best, be a mother we can call on who will always be for us and petition to her son on our behalf.

Jesus didn’t come to abolish what came before but to fulfill it. For all that came before prepared a way and set the stage for Jesus Christ to bring the love of God to us as something we can tough and join in communion with.

We have a God who so loved the world that he sent us his Son.
