John 6:35-40

Jesus said to the crowds,
“I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst.
But I told you that although you have seen me,
you do not believe.
Everything that the Father gives me will come to me,
and I will not reject anyone who comes to me,
because I came down from heaven not to do my own will
but the will of the one who sent me.
And this is the will of the one who sent me,
that I should not lose anything of what he gave me,
but that I should raise it on the last day.
For this is the will of my Father,
that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him
may have eternal life,
and I shall raise him on the last day.”

Jesus came to do the Father’s will. His will was joined to the Father. When we turn to Jesus Christ and believe, our will joins with his. And we do his will naturally because we belong to him.  We were given to him by the Father.

So, we are called to believe and receive the bread of life he offers.

We were not created to create our own path and choose a new way. We were created to do the will of the Father and believe in Jesus Christ.

We may have different jobs and vocations and likes and dislikes. Some may be found in cities and others in the country. We may travel the world or never leave our hometown. Where he finds us is where he loves us. We may have many ambitions in this world, but none can undermine our first goal. Our primary purpose and our priority of putting God first in our lives and loving his will. To obtain eternal life.

Let’s ask ourselves today as we go to work or play or relax or study. Are we doing the will of the Father? Are we disciples of Jesus in how we live and care for others? Does our words and actions build up others? Does our life reflect that we belong to Jesus Christ?
