Today we hear the Passion Narrative. We have heard it before this week but today is a solemn day of silence for us as we begin our wait for the resurrection of Easter.

For the disciples it was the start of a period of confusion, anxiety, and sorrow. For many the cross was not expected and took them by surprise and they were in shock not sure of what to do.

For you and me we have hope. We have the Gospels and we have his word firmly fixed in our hearts and minds.

But we can often times still feel abandoned and even alone with what feels like a God that doesn’t speak to us.

Today is a good day to practice renewing our prayers and staying the course. Reminding ourselves that he still is present even in our sorrows. He still loves us even when we feel alone.

And in bleak times, which this day was for the disciples, we raise our questions and fears and struggles and give them to him. Ask him on the cross to take our hurts and concerns and our whole being and life and give us a life anew made in his image and shaped by his words. A life where daily worries are no longer that important. And as we follow his teachings in all things we know he will take us on the path that leads to him. And nothing else really matters. Today can be the day we spend time in quiet and meditation and prepare to start a new life. Come Easter we begin a new. After our Lenten prayers and charity and fasting we are ready to start a new journey and go where he wants us to go and be who he wants us to be.
