Even after the miracle of the loaves and fish for the 5000. Even after they see him walk on water and calm the seas. Even after these miracles the disciples were troubled and lacked faith. They still doubted.

If those who walked with him had trouble with faith, we too will have our moments of great faith and moments we struggle too.  And just as the disciples questioned Jesus earnestly seeking his truth, we too have questions on our journey.

It is important to note, Jesus still answered them and he will answer our questions. He does not reject those who struggle with faith but encourages us all. He tells us too to not be afraid.

In our first reading we learn that God is love and that in perfect love there is no fear. Jesus did not ask them why they feared for He was interested in the underlying issue. The need to trust and love Jesus and be one with him in his love.

Today we are asked what fears are holding us captive today. We have our own worries and doubts and struggles as we grow in faith. But our goal must be to remove fear from our life and open our hearts to trust and love God. The less we fear regardless of our circumstances the more we know our love is growing.

Many times we ask Jesus to remove a burden or situation from our life. Help get rid of a struggle we are engaged in. Maybe it is health or money issues. Maybe it is work or relationships.

Jesus says, do not be afraid. To be one with Him and the Father in love and trust in Him. He came to calm the storm in our heart. To bring peace and joy that will remain regardless of struggles. The one who loves will not be afraid but have confidence in Jesus always. For He is the way and the light for our path through life.

Surrender your worries and fears to him and he will grow the faith in your heart.
