Mary said:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
for he has looked upon his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
and has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.”
Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months
and then returned to her home.
Today we read the Magnificat of Mary. It is a statement of faith, a prayer of thanksgiving, a proclamation of promises kept and glory given to the world.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, is now mother to us all. She is Queen of Heaven and points to her son in all things. She holds a special place in the hearts of all Catholics. For those who pray the rosary daily she becomes truly our mom in heaven. She listens like only a mother can and wants her children to always come to her for her prayers and encouragement in our struggles and joys.
Those who are smart enough to include Mary in their life has the mother of Jesus ready to reach out to Jesus on our behalf. She is especially known for her care for our children who we commit to her care in our daily petitions for their safety and conversion.
She wants to hear from us and is always there to listen.
As we wind down Advent everyone should remember to approach Christmas with Mary. Ask her to pray for our intentions and our family. She is our mother and wants the best for us and our family.
If you do not pray the rosary yet I encourage you to start this week before Christmas.
It opens a channel to Jesus unlike any other and we see the life of Jesus as his mother saw it. Let her show you her view of her son’s life and her love for you. It will richer your spiritual life and soften your heart.
