We live in a time where sin and abandonment of our relationship with God continues to grow for many people.

But we are also seeing a dramatic increase in people turning to Jesus and the Catholic Church.  And interestingly our first reading says that when Adam fail to sin and death entered the world and increased to be part of every life, Jesus came and gave us grace and grace thru the justification of Jesus Christ overflowed over the world.

“Where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more,

so that, as sin reigned in death,

grace also might reign through justification

for eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

So, it should not be a surprise that even today when we see the world grow further from God and sinfulness become so prevalent it is the norm… we also see the grace and Spirit grow in hearts of people who in greater numbers turn toward God and his church.

Truth and God do not change and neither does human nature.

So, the horn of salvation is being trumpeted across the world. Many will hear the call and turn to Jesus, repenting of old ways and living as true disciples.

And no moment in our life has been more relevant and important than today when we are called to bring Jesus Christ into our families and work and marketplace. The evil one is fighting his last battle. He is desperate. Families are split as Jesus told us they would be. The sacrament of evil, abortion is tearing apart lives and ending innocent lives.

It is time we rise up and proclaim the gospel with every breath and action we take. Most Christians work and live like all other people. They wear the same clothes and work at the same jobs.

But now it is time to put on new clothes. Wear the uniform of a disciple of Christ. Perform our work for Christ. Do all things in his name. And yes, it is time to turn back to actually considering our literal clothing. Are we modestly dressed each day. Do we cover the temple we are, or do we expose ourselves like the pagans do?

Do we spend money on frivolous things or do we use our money for building up the kingdom.

Do we stand up for truth anywhere we hear falsehoods and lies corrupt others? It is time. We cannot be complacent anymore. We must be ready, and our lives must reflect who we are now.  Being vigilant as Jesus spoke about means everything must be used to prepare for his coming. How we live, how we dress, what we do, what we say and how we love.

Being vigilant isn’t some abstract concept of spiritual readiness. It includes that but it should also be identifiable by who we are each day now. It is time to be actively building the kingdom. There will only be two people who face Jesus at the end time. One who consciously worked toward being ready and doing the will of Jesus to build the kingdom or those who did not.

Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
